For some, finding the perfect wedding dress can be as difficult as finding Mr Right, so STYLE asked bridal designer to the stars Viola Chan for her expert advice

We all know marriage is tough, but the wedding day also has its own set of challenges. I'm not just talking about the walk down the aisle and reading the vows. It’s planning the big day that is especially daunting: selecting a venue, inviting guests, designing the menu, the list is endless.

For every bride, one of the most significant things on the big day is undoubtedly the wedding gown.

 Being the centre of the universe for a day and the most dazzling woman in the room can be a memorable moment for years afterwards. However, finding a perfect gown can be as challenging as meeting Mr Right – I'm sure Carrie Bradshaw would agree.

Having been in the industry for more than 20 years, Chan has collaborated with various fashion luminaries from Vera Wang to Zac Posen and Jenny Packham.

Chan was an apprentice to the late American fashion designer Oleg Cassini, who was the couturier for Jackie Kennedy in the 1960s, and designed tailored clothes for Grace Kelly and a myriad of Hollywood stars. Chan has crafted gorgeous dresses for contemporary celebrities including Taylor Swift, Joey Wong, Carol Cheng, Kay Tse, Gillian Chung, Juliette Louie and Sisley Choi.
