After School’s Im Jin-ah, better known by her stage name Nana, has also nurtured an acting career over the years. She’s starred in a number of films and TV series since 2014, according to her IMDB, all while juggling a career as a K-pop idol. More recently, the star appears to be focusing on her screen work and hasn’t produced a single since 2020.

Some of the 31-year-old’s most successful gigs so far include roles in films like Confession and The Swindlers. More recently, she starred in one of the year’s breakout South Korean drama series, Mask Girl.

Fans are raving about the show’s unique approach to storytelling. The series centres around the main character, Kim Mo-mi, an office worker turned online streaming star turned criminal. Nana and two other actresses, Lee Han-byeol and Ko Hyun-jung, each take on the part as the protagonist’s storyline evolves.

Based on a popular webtoon, Kim Mo-mi, as played by Nana, is a charismatic seductress who often dons bodycon dresses with plunging necklines. Her flowing hair adds to the sultry persona of the character.

The star, who debuted in 2009, has had her own fair share of fashion transformations in reality, too. From her early days as an idol sporting matching ensembles with her fellow bandmates, to now going for more sophisticated high fashion looks, Nana’s style has been as dynamic as the roles she’s played.

Her colourful approach to fashion, which she shows off on Instagram, sees her opting for youthful looks that include plenty of crop tops and denim. She doesn’t shy away from flaunting her figure in workout gear and body-hugging ensembles, yet she also loves to embrace the casual comfort of oversized coats and baggy jeans.

Her ability to pull off these polar opposite styles has apparently caught the attention of magazines and brands alike.

While gracing the cover of various editions of international magazines, such as Elle Singapore and W Korea, Nana has proven herself to be incredibly versatile and is able to adapt to a plethora of styles, from girlie to gothic.

Her international appeal has landed her on the radar of global luxury brands, from the sexy maximalism of Versace to the understated eccentricity of Fendi. The actress is also drawn to bold colours and girlie floral patterns, including those from Etro.

When off duty, she’s not afraid to dress down and often opts for more approachable pieces like flannel shirts and denim. Despite having plenty of access to top designer fashion, she loves to pair luxury items with casual numbers. For example, she wore her holy grail bag, a black Hermès Birkin, with a fitted long-sleeve shirt and a pair of ripped jeans.

She took the same approach when styling her red Chanel Boy bag, dressing down the purse with a bright pair of baggy sweatpants and a yellow beanie. Some of her favourite footwear seems to include down-to-earth designs from Nike and Vans.

As Nana’s international fan base continues to grow, so too have her collaborations with fashion names. Burberry, Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana are among those who’ve recently dressed the South Korean star, confirming her rising influence as a global trendsetter.
