Where are Andrew and Chris Cuomo now? They were fired as New York governor and CNN host amid sexual misconduct allegations – then Chris covered wars in Israel and Ukraine, and Andrew may run for mayor

- They joked around on air in early 2020 in their respective positions of power, but Andrew and Chris Cuomo since fell from grace, beginning with sexual misconduct allegations
- Now, the brothers might be making a comeback, with Andrew potentially running for New York mayor and Chris reporting from war zones for NewsNation – while seeking US$125 million in damages from CNN
This former powerhouse sibling duo once dominated politics and media in the US. Andrew Cuomo, 66, was the 56th governor of New York while his brother Chris, 53, was a top-rated CNN anchor.
Then an avalanche of sexual misconduct allegations were made against the governor, which also revealed how his brother Chris violated company ethics while trying to help him.
After their spectacular fall from grace though, the Cuomo brothers appear to be looking to create new lives for themselves. Here is what they’re up to …
Why did Andrew Cuomo resign as governor of New York?

Democrat Andrew resigned as governor of New York in 2021 after confirming he would not face an impeachment battle over sexual harassment allegations levelled against him. The state’s governor for over a decade, Andrew denied the allegations and defended himself upon leaving office, portraying himself as the victim of a “political firecracker on an explosive topic”, per The Guardian.

New York state attorney general Letitia James reported on an independent investigation at the time that found that Andrew had “sexually harassed multiple women and in doing so violated state and federal law”. Eleven women had come forward to detail their experiences with Andrew. Rather than face impeachment, the governor resigned.
How did Andrew Cuomo’s charges impact his brother, Chris Cuomo?
Chris, a popular CNN anchor, did not report on his brother’s sexual misconduct allegations, nor did he make inquiries into his brother’s controversial handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in New York, citing a conflict of interest. But Chris did regularly interview his brother, with the two often joking around on air.

Chris was eventually suspended. During Andrew’s investigation, evidence revealed that the CNN anchor had pressured sources for information about his brother’s accusers. The evidence also showed that Chris regularly passed on information to his brother’s staff and helped Andrew with responses to the charges. Chris was then fired and an allegation of sexual misconduct was also made against him, reported The New York Times.
