Menuez was born in May 1993. In 2019, they announced on Instagram that they would be going by Bobbi Salvör Menuez. Menuez is trans and non-binary and uses they/them pronouns.
They were raised in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and lived briefly in London until their parents separated, they told LGBTQ entertainment website Autostraddle. Their mother worked in retail, and their father made furniture, but both were also creatives, per Vanity Fair.
Menuez grew up with gay aunts and uncles – close friends rather than biological relatives. One of their close uncles lived with Aids, they told the NYC Tourism website as part of its “Trans Voices in NYC” series. In high school, Menuez co-founded an art collective called Luck You, per i-D magazine.
