Move over, Benedict Bridgerton – our dearest gentle readers have been captivated by his mother Violet’s love interest, played by Daniel Francis

Bridgerton’s hottest storyline in its latest season may not be that of Benedict Bridgerton, but another member of the titular family – his mother Violet (Ruth Gemmell). With the highly anticipated season four of the hit Netflix show back on our screens, long-time fans have eagerly awaited the Cinderella-like story featuring Sophie Baek (played by Yerin Ha) and the second eldest Bridgerton brother.

But it’s Benedict’s mother, Violet, and her slow-burn romance with Lord Marcus Anderson, played by Daniel Francis, that has captured the audience’s attention.

Daniel Francis was born to Jamaican parents and raised in Battersea in southwest London. In a 2013 interview with news website My London, Francis revealed that, when he was 15, his older brother was arrested. “I was at a point in my life where I could have gone down a certain route, but seeing him sent down made me say to myself, ‘That’s not going to happen to me,’” he said in the interview.

Francis went on to attend the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After graduating, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and has had a critically acclaimed stage career.

On screen, Francis is known for his role in ABC’s sitcom Once Upon a Time and Amazon Prime’s The Wheel of Time starring Rosamund Pike.
