Norwegian athlete Sturla Holm Lægreid, who won the bronze medal in the men’s 20km biathlon, used his post-win interview to admit on live TV that he had cheated on his girlfriend. Calling her the “love of [his] life”, the 28-year-old revealed that they met six months ago, three months after which he stepped out on her, and only fessed up to it days ago.
“I hope that committing social suicide might show her how much I love her,” he said, explaining his public admission.

Sturla Holm Lægreid was born on February 20, 1997, in Bærum, Norway, to Tor Lægreid and Ingrid Holm. According to the International Biathlon Union, he lives in Oslo. He practices meditation, per Biathlon World, and plays the guitar in his free time.
Based on his Instagram posts, Lægreid took up the guitar at a young age. Growing up, he also did Taekwondo. These days, he seems to enjoy cooking and surfing.
