The show’s stars include Ella Bright, Belmont Cameli and Mika Abdalla – but what do we know about the actor playing Garrett’s teammate Dean?
The Amazon Prime Video series Off Campus, based on Elle Kennedy’s book series of the same name, is the hottest romcom on TV right now. Starring Ella Bright, Belmont Cameli, Mika Abdalla, Stephen Kalyn and Josh Heuston, it is the most-watched show on Amazon Prime Video, according to streaming data collection website FlixPatrol, and it has already been renewed for a second season.
The story follows music student Hannah Wells (Bright), who gets into a fake relationship with the captain of the Briar University ice hockey team, Garrett Graham (Cameli), in an attempt to draw the attention of her crush, Justin Kohl (Heuston). Hannah’s best friend, Allie Hayes (Abdalla), meanwhile, cosies up to Garrett’s friend and teammate, Dean Di Laurentis (Kalyn). However, their connection is threatened after Allie is revealed to have had a fling with his rival, Hunter Davenport (Charlie Evans).

“I think [Dean] experiences jealousy for the first time, and that’s something new to him,” Kalyn told Swooon, before emphasising that Allie “screwed it all up”.
So, just who is Stephen Kalyn?
He’s an ice hockey player in real life

Born in April 1998 in Toronto, Stephen Kalyn grew up playing ice hockey, per Elite Daily. Although he has a body double in Off Campus, he performs many of his ice hockey sequences himself. “I got to body-check people, cross-check people. It was so cool,” the actor told People magazine.

Kalyn shared in an interview with Deadline how “entertaining” it was during the cast’s hockey training to “watch a bunch of grown men learn really how to, like, walk again on the ice – and watch them fall and hit on their little tushies”.
