She’s been in Saltburn and co-starred with Nicolas Cage. Can her new romance drama replicate the success of The Summer I Turned Pretty?

Amazon Prime Video’s latest series, Every Year After, may be exactly what fans of the hit show The Summer I Turned Pretty need while they eagerly await the latter’s movie adaptation to release in 2027.

The new show, adapted from author Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Every Summer After, follows Persephone “Percy” Fraser, played by actress Sadie Soverall, who spends every summer at her family cottage in Barry’s Bay, a small town in Canada, with her best friends, brothers Sam and Charlie Florek (Matt Cornett and Michael Bradway). The eight-episode show follows Percy’s romance with Sam, the younger Florek brother, and chronicles almost 20 years in their lives.

Following the recent premiere of the show, here’s everything you need to know about Every Year After’s leading lady, Sadie Soverall.

She always wanted to be an actress

Sadie Soverall was born in 2002 in London, and says she has always known she wanted to be an actress. Her love of performing was inspired by her godmother, who took nine-year-old Soverall to watch Bugsy Malone (1976).

Soverall went on to study drama at school but admitted in a 2021 interview with Square Mile that she lacked the confidence to pursue acting as a profession at the time, and now regrets she didn’t start earlier.

She was discovered by a casting agent at 16

All the same, Soverall was only 16 and performing in her school’s production of Twelfth Night when a casting agent spotted her. Soverall made her feature film debut as Eva in the 2019 Irish drama Rose Plays Julie, then landed the role of Beatrix in Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga (2021-2022).
