Meet Lexi Minetree, who plays Elle in the Legally Blonde prequel

A stylish chihuahua dog, the most fashionable hot pink outfits, and a “dumb blonde” trope ditched forever. Twenty-five years after the first movie, Legally Blonde is a pop culture staple, and its prequel series, Elle, is finally coming to Amazon Prime Video after months of anticipation.
Elle is set in 1995 and revisits Elle Woods’ high school years. The show will launch on Prime Video on July 1. Reese Witherspoon herself, the one who first brought the iconic Elle Woods to our screens, hand-picked Lexi Minetree for her role in the prequel.

The 25-year-old actress recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in a Marc Jacobs hot-pink midi with black tulle – the same dress that Witherspoon wore to the movie premiere back in 2001.
But who was Lexi Minetree before she came to global prominence, and how exactly did she audition for this iconic role?
How did Lexi Minetree get into acting?
A graduate of the University of Southern California, Minetree double majored in theatre and public relations, and first appeared in a series of short films before making her debut in the TV movie Saved by My Stalker (2023). She also had a role in the 2023 film The Murdaugh Murders, and appeared on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit as a guest star in 2024, where she played a law student – just like Elle Woods.
The actress told Jimmy Fallon that she recently went home to Atlanta while wrapping up Elle season two, and had found her old diary there. “It said that I was ten years old, and I said I wanted to be an actress,” she shared.
