Fifa World Cup 2026

The biotechnology graduate from the World Cup footballer’s hometown of Nagrig is mother to their 2 daughters – but what part of their home life leaves her less than happy?

History has been made for Egypt at the Fifa World Cup as the country’s football team made it into the knockout stage for the first time. Captaining Egypt’s national football team is Mohamed Salah, 34, regarded as one of the best players of his generation and among the most decorated players in the Premier League.

This season has been bittersweet, however, for Salah and his fans. In March, the player dubbed the Egyptian King announced his departure from Liverpool after playing for the club since 2017, terminating his contract one year early. Football fans were unsurprised, noting a decline in the player’s performance after a successful season last year, but the news still elicited emotional reactions.

Someone who’s been by Salah’s side since the beginning of his international football career is his wife, Magi Sadeq. While Salah is a household name in the football world, little is known about his family life. Here’s what we know about the football legend’s wife.

How did Mohamed Salah and Magi Sadeq meet?

Magi Sadeq, 32, grew up in Nagrig, Egypt, and studied biotechnology at Alexandria University. She and Salah have known each other since childhood, having grown up in the same village and attended the same school. They were married in their hometown in 2013, right around the time Salah was beginning his European career with FC Basel in Switzerland.

Sadeq has no public social media accounts of her own.

The couple have two daughters

Sadeq and Salah welcomed their first daughter in 2014; she is named Makka in honour of the Islamic holy city, Mecca. In 2020, they welcomed their second daughter, Kayan.
