Meet Gabrielle Policano, who plays Elle’s queer friend, Liz, in the Legally Blonde prequel

Much like their on-screen character, the actor is also queer; they starred opposite Nicole Kidman in A24’s erotic thriller, Babygirl, in 2024

Liz is one of a few people who welcome Elle at her new high school after she and her family move from sunny California to grey Seattle. The two form a friendship quickly, and while Liz, a lesbian, develops feelings for another classmate, fans can’t get enough of Minetree and Policano’s undeniable on-screen chemistry.
So who is Gabrielle Policano? Read on to find out.
What did Gabrielle Policano do before Elle?

Gabrielle Policano, who uses she/they pronouns, graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in acting. Before joining the cast of Elle, they worked in various theatre productions.
Policano made their on-screen debut in 2018 with a minor role in the TV movie Birr. They also starred in A24’s Babygirl (2024) opposite Nicole Kidman and Antonio Banderas.
Speaking to fashion magazine Numéro earlier this month, the 24-year-old actor revealed that they loved Legally Blonde growing up and had “probably watched it upwards of 50 times” as a kid.
When they first learned about the prequel spin-off, they didn’t think there would be a role for them, let alone considered auditioning for the show. “As an actor, you get so used to rejection being the norm. Getting to play a queer musician in such a beloved IP is a gift I don’t take lightly,” they said.
