Meet Alice Halsey, the young actress playing Laura on Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie

The 11-year-old made her debut in the 2023 miniseries Lessons in Chemistry and had a role in the long-running Days of Our Lives – and she loves Taylor Swift
Netflix has just premiered its newest show, a remake of the 1974 television series Little House on the Prairie. The original show from 50 years ago was loosely based on the book series of the same name by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and this 2026 version brings those stories to life once again.

The show made No 3 on Netflix’s list of global top shows that week, just behind the limited series I Will Find You and true crime anthology Worst Neighbour Ever. The reboot has already been renewed for a second season earlier this year ahead of its premiere, and viewers have praised the show’s use of newer, up-and-coming actors.
Among the main cast is young actress Alice Halsey, who plays Laura Ingalls, a young girl living in the Midwest during the late 19th century.
So, who exactly is this 11-year-old actress? Here’s what we know about Alice Halsey.
She started auditioning at three years old

Halsey was born in the United States on November 15, 2014. Per Soaps, a website about soap opera dramas, the 11-year-old started auditioning for roles at the age of only three. She made her acting debut at the age of eight as Madeline Zott in the 2023 period drama miniseries Lessons in Chemistry, where she worked alongside Oscar winner Brie Larson. Halsey has also appeared in Night Court and the long-running show Days of Our Lives.

In preparation for her role in Little House on the Prairie, Halsey read the books the series is based on in addition to the script, and listened to podcasts and books about the late 19th century. “I just wanted to get a sense of who the character was, how I would play her,” Halsey said to THR.
