Ever wanted to create your own personal blend of fine wine? The bigger question, however, is: would you be willing to pay US$250,000 (around HK$1.9 million) for it?

Diehard vino lovers with deep enough pockets will get to find out if the price tag is worth it when they join the Ultimate Barossa Australia Wine Experience, offered by Flight Centre, which takes place across seven days. The Barossa winemaking region is north of Adelaide in South Australia.

The region is quickly earning itself a reputation as a wine destination, with robust reds and complex whites doing all the talking (while you do the drinking). In short, South Australia is the vino expert’s best-kept secret.

One of the rarest Port wines will go on auction in Hong Kong

The wine journey takes guests from bustling Adelaide to the heart of Barossa, where they will stay at the Cambourne boutique accommodation, a three-bedroom cottage with access to Hentley Farm where much of the experience takes place. Stops at some of Barossa’s best-known wineries, including Penfolds and Seppeltsfield, are part of the itinerary.

The highlight of the trip will be the personal wine blending session, headed by Hentley Farm’s chief winemaker Andrew Quin, who will advise guests how to create their own personal blend of fine wine. At the end of the experience, 800 bottles of that personal blend will be delivered to the guests’ home, anywhere in the world. A personalised label, where guests are named “co-winemakers”, finish off each bottle with a flourish.

Other high points include a helicopter transfer from the Barossa Valley to Penfolds at Magill Estate, a private lunch at the Penfolds Barrel Room, as well as a private translator and concierge service for additional comfort.
