Crate, Milk & Madu, The Loft, The Common and Cafe Vida are definitely cool spots for hanging out

It almost feels like every time we visit Canggu, there’s a new hipster cafe or restaurant in the neighbourhood. So how to single out the best in the sea of abundance? We sought recommendations from Jessica Lee Cook from Q Events Bali, Elissa Doyle from Bali Tours And More, and our own Mirko Corbella, general manager of The Luxe Nomad Bali.

1. Crate

Crate isn’t new, but since it can be considered one of the pioneers of hipster cafe culture in Bali, the name (and food!) has stuck with both regulars and newcomers to Canggu. The cafe also doubles as an art gallery, providing a space for artists to network and showcase their work. There’s also a boutique store selling local designer labels.

What to order: bacon and egg waffles with maple syrup (the perfect hangover food!).

Find it here: Jalan Canggu Padang Linjong, Canggu, Bali. Tel: +62 812-3894-3040. Open daily 6am-5pm.

2. Milk & Madu

Family-friendly cafes are pretty common in Bali, but Milk & Madu has a cool play area and we suspect the staff were probably hired based on their love of children (truly, everyone in Bali seems to love babies). Plus, the food is good, so even the adults have a good time.
