Skiers and snowboarders are invited to complete a series of tests organised by Swiss company Ski Armadillo and European Snowsport

You’ve heard of the Big 5 when it comes to African safaris, but if you’re in Verbier, Switzerland, the term has more to do with beasting it on the slopes than traipsing after magnificent beasts.

Swiss company Ski Armadillo has partnered with European Snowsport to launch the Big 5 Challenge, which involves checking the following ski or snowboard tests off your list: going down the steepest slope, the longest slope, the one with the biggest moguls, the best tree route, and the one with the best views. For this experience, skiers and snowboarders take on the multiple challenges with an instructor from European Snowsport, who will guide them to the best off-piste runs through a one-day itinerary.

While many avid skiers in Asia tend to think of Japan when it comes to hitting the powder, Verbier could be well worth the long-haul flight. The slopes reach up to 3,330m high and ski season lasts from early December to the end of April. Verbier, part of the 4 Vallées ski area, offers more than 410km of ski runs and the village itself provides stunning views thanks to its 1,500m altitude.
