A look inside British Airways' brand new first-class luxury cabins

À la carte menu, memory-foam mattresses and 400-thread-count bedding among new services in 100th year of UK airline services
The first class cabins are undergoing a minor makeover at British Airways, the United Kingdom’s national carrier and largest airline.
The company, which this year is celebrating its centenary – marking 100 years since airline operations began in the United Kingdom – is determined to make its first-class passengers experience comfort that’s on a par with a five-star hotel.
If you are a regular first-class traveller with the airline, from March 31, you will notice a change to its on-board menus and bedding.

To begin with, a new à la carte menu has been curated, allowing guests to choose from a plethora of dishes prepared from seasonal ingredients.
In keeping with the British customary ritual of afternoon tea, passengers will be offered a new afternoon tea service, featuring a selection of sandwiches, scones, pastries and teas.
If you are paying for first class, then only bone china tableware is acceptable. So British Airways has asked English manufacturer William Edwards to customise tableware for the airline, in addition to the silverware which will be produced by award-winning English cutlery maker, Studio William.

Long-haul flights can be tiring, so the carrier has made special efforts to offer first-class passengers a foam-fibre mattress topper pad, coupled with 400-thread-count cotton bedding for ultimate comfort.
