H. Moser & Cie drops ‘Swiss-made’ label and launches new models that emphasise craftsmanship

The Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Cosmic Greenok model is available in white or rose gold.

H. Moser & Cie was one of the first luxury watchmakers to make a move regarding the toughening legislation around the “Swiss made” label.

From January 1, 2017, only timepieces with 60 per cent or more components of Swiss origin will be considered eligible for the Swiss-made label. H. Moser & Cie decided to forgo the Swiss-made label and from 2017, it will no longer appear on the dial of any new creations from the brand.

The brand’s CEO, Edouard Meylan, said that over 95 per cent of the components in H. Moser & Cie watches are produced in Switzerland and that the only thing they couldn’t achieve internally was to source the components from Swiss suppliers.

“We are strong believers in Swiss values and we fight to defend traditional mechanical watchmaking every day,” Meylan says. “Today, the Swiss-made label is devalued because it is used by entry-level brands to justify their very existence or price point. Ultimately, our own image is undermined by this. In fact, we need no justification from this label, because our products speak for themselves.”

With or without the Swiss-made label, H. Moser & Cie has surely set its standards high throughout the years, which makes its collections even more intriguing at this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH).

H. Moser is making a statement with a new model for its Concept collection, featuring a cosmic green – deep emerald – fume dial. The Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Cosmic Green model is available in white or rose gold in a limited edition of 20 pieces each. The movement HMC 343 calibre boasts an impressive power reserve of at least seven days.

Another piece, which comes in a limited edition of 10 timepieces in either rose gold or platinum, is the Endeavour Dual Time Concept. The watch features a coloured hand hidden under the main hour hand to be set to the hour in a second time zone. The simplicity of the design is celebrated by H. Moser fans.

Following last year’s successful unveiling of a unique piece, H. Moser is offering another one-of-a-kind Heritage Tourbillon Skeleton watch which pays tribute to the brand’s artisanal skills.

Heritage Tourbillon Skeleton was inspired by an H.Moser pocket watch circa late 19th century.

Inspired by an H. Moser pocket watch from the late 19th century, the wristwatch features an engraved enamel case encrusted with diamonds.

The two covers of the case of the Heritage Tourbillon Skeleton feature guilloche engraving and are set with diamonds.
