Salon International de la Haute Horologerie (SIHH) will be the place to witness the launch of many beautifully-crafted timepieces this year.
Vacheron Constantin’s Traditionelle Complete Calendar, is the latest addition to its top-of-the-line Collection Excellence Platine family – and enhances its reputation.
The Collection Excellence Platine concept started in 2006. The headlining feature of the family is the material in which the timepieces are crafted in: 950 platinum. The tiny “Pt950” inscription, which hints at the prestigious material used, can be found on the dial between 4 and 5 o’clock. Platinum can also be found in the stitching of the dark blue alligator leather straps.
The newest addition features the complete calendar (showing the day, date and month), as well as a moonphase (made of platinum) accurate to 122 years. Inside the 41mm timepiece is the 308-component calibre 2460 QCL, an in-house mechanical self-winding movement. It beats at a frequency of 4Hz, and comes with a 40-hour power reserve.
The calibre, as well as a 22ct gold oscillating weight, can be admired via the transparent sapphire crystal fluted caseback. The timepiece is limited to 100 numbered pieces.
Vacheron Constantin also continues to strive for excellent craftsmanship with its popular Overseas family.
The Overseas dual time features a new manufacture 234-part self-winding movement, Calibre 5110 DT, which allows for dual time zones to be read via the coaxial hands. The movement beats at a powerful 4Hz and boats a 60-hour power reserve.
The hours’ hand is used to indicate the local time zone, while the hand with a triangle arrow on the tip refers to the home time. There is a day and night indicator, also with a triangular trip on the hand, to indicate the home time, making it visually easy to read.
A date function is on the dial, located at 6 o’clock, and can be adjusted via a scre-lock pusher at 4 o’clock. The date function is synced with the local time – a feature that enhances the travel-friendly timepiece.
]Style, as usual, is another major factor in the timepiece’s appeal. The six-sided bezel features a pattern evocative of the Maltese cross, the maison’s emblem of choice. The 41mm timepiece comes in either stainless steel case with a blue dial, stainless steel case with silver-toned dial, or pink gold case with silver-toned dial.
It comes with three interchangeable straps (stainless steel bracelets, alligator leather and rubber straps), to suit fashion needs. The Overseas collection provides many strap options that can be taken on and off, without using a tool. The stainless steel straps are beautifully crafted, with half Maltese cross-shaped polished and satin-brushed links.
