Elton John’s Rocketman biopic: How Chopard helped actor Taron Egerton sparkle in the role

Luxury Swiss jewellery and watch company and film’s costume designer collaborate to help portray the English musician known for his flamboyant sense of style
The Elton John biopic, Rocketman, is set to hit Hong Kong cinemas this week, following its debut at the Cannes Film Festival last month.
The veteran English musician is known for his theatrical style and the film’s costume designer, Julia Day, wanted to feature jewels in the production that match the star’s flamboyant personality.
She enlisted the help of Chopard, the Swiss maker of luxury jewellery and watches, to dress Welsh actor Taron Egerton – best known for his work in the 2014 action comedy, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and its 2017 sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle – who plays the leading role.
The collaboration was a personal one for Chopard’s co-president, Caroline Scheufele, who is a long-time friend of the singer.
“Elton John is a very dear friend of mine, hugely gifted in his talent, whether it is in his music, which I absolutely love, or his style and persona,” she says.
“I was delighted to participate on this movie and wanted to ensure that Chopard jewellery and watches creations would help transform actor Taron Egerton into Sir Elton John!”
So did Chopard’s jewels live up to the singer’s flamboyance? Let’s find out.
Here, Egerton is seen as Elton John wearing a pair of white diamond earrings from Chopard’s Happy Diamond Collection.

Egerton also wears pearl earrings and a baguette cut-diamond necklace in scenes as Elton John in the film.
