The ‘threads’ are artfully strung together to create a delicate and effortless look that is modern yet timeless
Threads – emotional threads, information threads, narrative threads – weave the stories of our lives. They create the web that binds us all together and they are the inspiration for an astonishing new collection from Graff.
“Each piece in the Threads Collection rests like a network of gems upon the skin,” says Anne-Eva Geffroy, design director at Graff. “The sleek lines of the custom-cut diamonds accentuate the graphic silhouette of the jewels and timepiece, each of which is effortlessly contemporary.”
Princess- and emerald-cut diamonds, white or yellow, are nested within a lattice of white baguette and pavé-set diamonds, seemingly random but with a stunning graphic effect. A 5.42 carat, radiant-cut yellow diamond is the centrepiece of a ring surrounded by these exquisite threads.
Yellow diamonds also feature in a necklace in which their almost casual arrangement of sizes seems to be held in place only by the threads. With 73.7 carats, this is a necklace to be worn with sangfroid. It can be matched with 21.3-carat earrings in which the diamonds tumble down in a long line. Together with a rich sapphire version of the necklace, these fancy diamond pieces belong firmly in the high jewellery category.
The Threads Collection includes a shorter necklace of white emerald-cut diamonds, with a criss-cross of threads created by the small baguette diamond bars and the pave-set bars set at angles to each other. A pair of long earrings echoes the necklace perfectly. A bracelet and a watch are complementary. In a pendant and stud earrings, the “threads” alone are artfully strung together. The look is delicate and effortless, modern yet timeless.
A highlight is the emerald-cut diamond ring of just over three carats with the pavé and baguette threads forming the shoulders. These are unique designs with the graphic elements cleverly woven together to form a spectacular collection.
