French connection

Catch one of France’s pioneering video artists in Macau. “Traverse: Video installation by Robert Cahen” runs at the Macau Museum of Art. The exhibition presents installations and video works by the renowned videographer. A graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, Cahen studied music and developed a strong interest in images and videos, becoming a pioneer in pairing music and visuals. The result is a journey between reality and illusion that creates an artistic delight.

Science for the kids

Printing technology has come a long way and a “Printing Impressions - Exhibition on Printing Technology” at the Macau Science Centre gives children a better understanding of the history, development and principles of printing technology. Also, at the centre’s Planetarium, “The Life of Trees” showcases the story of ladybug Dolores and her firefly friend Mike who explore the world in an exciting animated journey.

Time to get fired up

The 27th Macau International Fireworks Display Contest takes place on Septmeber 5, 12, 19 and 27, and October 1. The competition sees teams from Australia, Austria, China, Finland, France, Italy, South Korea, Malaysia, Portugal and Taiwan face off for top spot on the pyrotechnic pantheon.

Rock with Bon Jovi

If bringing the noise is your thing, legendary rock band Bon Jovi perform at Cotai Arena on September 25 and 26. Get ready to dance along to “Livin' On A Prayer”, “You Give Love A Bad Name”, and “It's My Life” to your heart’s content. Iconic front man Jon Bon Jovi has helped the group sell 130 million records and perform in close to 3,000 concerts, so fans are in for a treat.

Barbecue action heats up

At the Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central, a Portuguese style weekend poolside promotion is serving up delectable local delights with a summer vibe. Dishes available include the Bairrada-style suckling pig, roasted for 12 hours, paired with a Soalheiro Alvarinho, Vinho Verde 2013.

Also on offer are grilled chorizo sausages flambéed with Portuguese brandy and Pata Negra (cured ham). The hotel is also serving up Spanish rib-eye steaks served with Portuguese piri piri sauce, spiked with brandy and honey for a distinctive taste. These dishes are then paired with a Portuguese Quinta da Romaneira Liceiras Tinto red wine from the Douro region.

Kung Fu children

The Sheraton Macao Hotel Cotai Central is also holding a Kung Fu Panda Academy for children. Partnering with DreamWorks to tie in with the children’s movie, the academy is a five-zone interactive obstacle course that tests children’s physical abilities and problem-solving skills.
