What it is: A device for streaming content from your mobile phone to your TV
How it works: Plug the device into the HDMI port of your TV and connect to it using your mobile phone through Wi-fi. Follow the onscreen setup instructions to configure your phone as a remote control. You can stream videos, music and games straight to the TV. The device works with most phone models.

How it works: The speaker is connected to your phone via Wi-fi and can be controlled remotely using the free Sonas app. You can control multiple speakers through the app.
Why it’s cool: You can synchronise multiple speakers to play the same music and then, with just a few taps on the Sonos app, switch each speaker to independent mode. The speakers can be paired up with other Sonos equipment to create surround sound. They are also waterproof.
Xiaomi MiJia Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker
What it is: A smart rice cooker using electromagnetic heating technology and that can be controlled remotely via the smartphone.
How it works: With the heat spreading upwards, the ingredients are cooked evenly, and induction heating technology and increased micropressure help to retain flavour.
Why it’s cool: There are thousands of modes designed to accentuate the taste and texture of different dishes, and you can control the rice cooker remotely through the designated app and have your meal ready for when you arrive home. The removable, non-stick container is easy to clean.

What it is: A smart-home fragrance diffuser that allows you to create your own scent for the room.
How it works: You can connect your phone to the dispenser via Wi-fi or Bluetooth and, through the propriety app, blend different scents from a selection of mood mix capsules ranging from Orange Sunrise and Grandma Vanilla to Midnight Thrill to Divine Rose.
Why it’s cool: You can follow the recommended mixes to create “warm and comforting”, “cozzzy” or “the gardens of Kanazawa” scents. Or you can let your creative juices flow and do your own thing.

What it is: A smart shower device designed to fit most shower heads and which promises to help halve your water usage while making the experience fun.
How it works: Installed between the wall and the shower head, this device is equipped with a sensor system that automatically adjusts water flow based on where you stand and on the settings you have customised.
Why it’s cool: The dedicated app helps you record how much water you are using, and you can even compare your usage with that of other registered users. You can also keep track of how long your showers take.
