As part of a concerted effort to give business students a global perspective, Georgetown University in Washington DC is setting up a customised four-week summer programme in Hong Kong.

The aim is to give insights into the city’s role as hub for international trade and finance, combining lectures and seminars with visits to leading companies and meetings with government officials and industry bodies.

Run in collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), classes will focus on aspects of strategic management, as practised in Asia, with due attention also given to topics like intercultural communication plus in- and outbound mainland investment.

“We place a high priority on providing global experience for students; that is central to our mission,” says Norean Sharpe, senior associate dean and director of undergraduate programmes at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business. “In today’s economy, students must be able to take what they are learning and put it into a global context to solve different problems and challenges.”
