Students keen to learn more about university courses in France can now turn to an innovative online platform providing all the details they need.

Running until January next year, the Study in France Virtual Education Fair can be easily accessed via computer, tablet or smartphone. It allows visitors navigating the site to “walk through” the halls of virtual exhibition and stop at booths which interest them to download details.

It will also be possible to “chat” in real time with the representatives of the 67 French universities and 13 partner organisations taking part and put questions during two pre-arranged interactive sessions, each spanning three days, in mid-November and mid-January.

Initiated last year by the French consulate general in Hong Kong, the concept proved a big hit with prospective students looking for the most-up-to-date information on higher education opportunities in France. This year’s edition has been expanded to involve nine countries and territories in Asia, including mainland China, Macau, South Korea and Singapore.

Everything on the site is designed to be user-friendly, with each virtual booth offering course outlines, alumni testimonials, and videos to read or download. The first step is to fill in a simple orientation form and students, as well as parents, scholars and young professionals contemplating a change of career direction are encouraged to sign up and explore the options.

The participating universities cover all the main academic disciplines including business, management, engineering, fashion and culinary arts. Courses taught both in English (almost 900 programmes) and French are available. Costs are relatively low thanks to government subsidies. And the various partner organisations can offer advice and solutions for making the most of student life in France.
