Set up by three ambitious IT staff of a medical company, AnchorStream has expanded from the medical field and web design to a one-stop service provider and has produced a string of successful smartphone apps and IT solutions. Where did you get the inspiration to set up the company? We were a web-design company affiliated with a medical team providing x-ray services. Until recently we didn’t need to worry about business as the client return-rate was high and we got new customers through word of mouth. But medical solutions are a mature business and we can’t expect much innovation and expansion. To ensure our business’s healthy development, we decided to spin off AnchorStream and upgrade it from web design to offering full-service IT solutions. AnchorStream is a start-up with three equity partners. How did you take the first steps? We have always done more than simply design a website – clients trusted us and asked us to help them with digital marketing, events solutions and so no. We noticed a pattern in what they would ask for. So, last year we transformed some of our existing products, and put them up on our website, offering free download. We had a good response and this proved our business ideas. To ensure our business’s healthy development, we decided to spin off AnchorStream and upgrade it from web design to offering full-service IT solutions Can you explain a few examples of your products? Our award winning “Beinginvited” app is an all-in-one marketing solution with different functions, connecting event organisers to major social networks, target audience and media; “Buttonpaper” is an internal communication tool, a bit like social media but for a company’s internal use; and “StayMgt” is a tool which helps to manage a business project. The “Smart Bluetooth 4.0 Solutions”, designed for exhibitions and retail usage, facilitates a new interactive way of understanding the products. What is the next step for your business? I moved to Shanghai in February to expand business here. In China they don’t have companies offering all-in-one services. We can offer one-stop IT solutions, such as consulting, marketing, IT and programming. How do you promote your business? I have been to Chongqing, Beijing and Xiamen, attended the SmartHK conference in Nanjing and will attend an exhibition in Kunshan, near Shanghai. We are also a Cyberport incubatee and Collaboration Centre subscriber. Cyberport is a symbol of an IT hub, they can facilitate good start-up networking opportunities in various countries. That’s the most beneficial aspect for us – to see if there are any opportunities to expand our business.
