More than 200 bags of cocaine were found in the stomach and intestines of a Japanese passenger who died on a flight from Mexico to Japan last week, Mexican officials said on Monday.
Authorities identified the man only as “Udo N’’ and said he had travelled to Mexico’s capital from Bogota, Colombia.
The man died on Friday from cardiac arrest caused by a drug overdose, the law enforcement officials said.
An autopsy revealed that the 42-year-old man had swallowed a total of 246 bags of cocaine, each measuring approximately 2.5cm long and 1cm wide.

“When the plane landed at 2.25am on Friday, paramedics boarded it and declared Udo ‘N’ deceased," the prosecutor’s office said in a statement, adding the cause of death was swelling of the brain caused by a drug overdose.
The aircraft, which was carrying 198 other passengers, resumed its flight after the body was removed and international protocols were carried out, prosecutors said.
