Woman faces backlash after yelling at China Airlines flight attendants for not speaking Japanese
- A Japanese passenger on the flight from Fukuoka to Taipei got into a shouting match with crew members for not speaking to her in her native language
- Social media users called out the woman, who was handed over to the airport police, for her ‘embarrassing’ behaviour

A Japanese passenger has come under fire for her “abusive” behaviour on a China Airlines international flight during which she scolded flight attendants for not speaking to her in her native language.
The incident on June 4, after the plane’s doors had closed, caused take-off for the flight from Fukuoka to Taipei to be delayed for nearly 40 minutes, Taiwanese television channel TVBS News reported on Sunday night.
In a video clip circulating on social media, the passenger could be seen getting increasingly agitated as she addressed two female flight attendants near her seat.
“Do you speak only Chinese?” she asked in English, gesturing to the attendants. “What are you doing? I’m Japanese here.”
As the attendants tried to excuse themselves to respond to a cabin crew call announcement, she continued to call out after them, prompting one of them to stop and turn back to attend to her.
