Pakistan arrests five men for killing of two civilians and two policemen at Chinese consulate

Pakistan investigators have arrested five suspects charged with aiding a group accused of attacking the Chinese consulate in Karachi last year, killing two civilians and two policemen.
At a news conference on Friday, Karachi police chief Amir Sheikh said the arrested men confessed to their role in helping three assailants, who were killed during the attack at the consulate on November 23.
He claimed that the detainees were linked to the Baluch Liberation Army (BLA), a Baluchistan-based militant group which took responsibility for the attack on the Chinese consulate at the time.
Sheikh also alleged that India’s intelligence agency helps the BLA, which is classed as a terrorist group by Pakistan and Britain.
Spokesmen for the BLA and India were not available for comment.
Pakistan and India have a history of bitter relations and routinely accuse each other of orchestrating violence in their countries.
