At just 57 pounds (26kg) in weight, 27 inches (69cm) tall and 20 inches (51cm) wide, Rani – who lives on a small farm in Bangladesh’s Manikganj District – may well be the world’s smallest cow.
If confirmed by Guinness World Records, the 23-month-old cow is about four inches shorter than Manikyam, the current title holder.
“Rani is a craze as she has a high possibility to have her name in the Guinness Book of World Records,” Rani’s owner, Kazi Mohammed Abu Sufian, told The Washington Post.
Abu Sufian said Rani was born in 2019 and is not expected to grow any taller, although she has gained 15lb (6.8kg) over the past year. Word has spread about Rani and as a result, hundreds have swarmed to Abu Safian’s farm, cameras in hand.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Abu Safian hired three security guards to help control her fans. He said they are only allowing 10 visitors each day and a private firm is vetting visitors.
Abu Safian added that Rani prefers to roam and explore the farm and is adjusting to the new-found attention and crowds.
