It was a regular outing at a shopping mall in Malaysia for a family of four until the teenage daughter complained of abdominal pains and rushed to the toilet.

With the 15-year-old spending a long time in the toilet and not coming out, her concerned mother went to check on her and was shocked to see the girl holding a blood-soaked baby in her hands.

Her father and younger brother were both elsewhere in the mall during the incident.

Both parents apparently had no idea that their daughter was pregnant.

Penampang police chief Supt Rosley Hobden said the teenager and her newborn baby girl have been warded at Kota Kinabalu’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

He said the parents rushed her to the hospital before reporting the incident to police.

The teenager told police that she had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy who then broke up with her five months ago.

They reportedly had sex at the girl’s home in the town of Penampang.

Supt Rosley said police are tracking down the ex-boyfriend and that the case would be classified as statutory rape.
