Police in Malaysia are launching a global search for a third suspect linked to the murder of an Irishman in the northern state of Penang.

Patrick Brian O’Reilly, 51, was found dead in a pool of blood with his hands and feet tied up when a property agent visited his apartment in George Town on Monday. He had been stabbed multiple times and bludgeoned.

“We have evidence to show the suspect we are looking for has left the country and have put up his name as a wanted person through the Interpol network,” Penang police chief T. Narenasagaran told the South China Morning Post.

On Tuesday, police had detained an Indian man and a Chinese woman in connection with the killing, but Narenasagaran said they were also looking for a “fair-skinned foreign man” who could be key to the investigation.

Malaysian media outlets have reported that three people were seen entering the apartment with the victim on Friday.
