Singapore police arrest man at Nanyang Technological University for insulting modesty of female student

  • University says man arrested was not an NTU student, but was taking part on a short-term course conducted at the campus
A man was arrested at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore on Friday for allegedly insulting the modesty of a female student.

The Singapore Police Force said that it received a call for assistance at a bus stop along Nanyang Drive at about 2.40pm.

“A 26-year-old man was arrested for the offence of insulting the modesty of a person,” said the police.

In response to queries, a spokesperson for the university said the man involved was not an NTU student but a participant in a short-term course conducted at the university.

The university’s pastoral care team reached out to the female student immediately after the incident, the spokesperson added.

A passer-by said she had seen a string of police cars at a bus stop near the North Spine – near the National Institute of Education – where two women and a man were questioned by the police.
