Coronavirus: Britain’s third case was infected in Singapore
- Singapore authorities on Friday confirmed Britain’s third coronavirus patient got the disease after attending a meeting at the Grand Hyatt hotel
- UK authorities have added Singapore and eight other Asian territories to their list of locations from which returning travellers who develop symptoms should self-isolate if they showed any virus symptoms

Kenneth Mak, Director of Medical Services at Singapore’s Ministry of Health said that Britain’s third patient was linked to the cluster of patients from the same company who had fallen ill after attending the event at the Grand Hyatt Singapore from January 20 to 22.
There were 109 participants and 94 came from overseas, including visitors from China’s Hubei province, the epicentre of the outbreak
In recent days, several participants from South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore have tested positive for the virus. Other Singaporeans who attended the meeting are showing symptoms, the authorities have said.
Mak said he was not at liberty to release the name of the company “mainly because the matter is still under investigation”.
“We have not as yet identified the actual source of the infection. The participants of the meeting have all left Singapore and we have passed their particulars to our counterparts and health ministries of other countries.”
The British government on Thursday expanded a list of countries from which returning travellers who developed coronavirus symptoms should self-isolate.
