Thirteen people have died and four others are still missing after a tourist motorboat sank in central Vietnam, local authorities said on Saturday.
The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon as the vessel carrying 39 people from the Cham Islands to shore capsized about 3km (1.86 miles) away from the Cua Dai beach of Hoi An town in Quang Nam province, Vietnam’s National Committee for Search and Rescue said in a report.
Rescue forces have taken 35 people to shore, but 13 of them have died, the report said.
Authorities sent 10 boats with 400 people to search for the victims, including two children in an area of over 3 square km (1.86 square miles) but had to temporarily stop due to darkness. Rescue work is expected to resume on Sunday morning.

The Cham Islands, about 18km away from the Cua Dai port of Hoi An, is a popular tourist site in Hoi An.
