New York, Singapore jointly ranked as world’s most expensive cities in survey as inflation soars

  • The Big Apple topped the EIU Worldwide Cost of Living index for the first time, while Damascus and Tripoli remained the cheapest cities
  • Prices rocketed by an average 8.1 per cent in the 172 major cities covered by the survey
