Indonesia unveils construction site of new capital city as Jakarta sinks into the sea

  • The ground has been broken on the construction of Nusantara, a ‘sustainable forest city’ twice the size of New York that aims to be carbon-neutral by 2045
  • Jakarta – the congested, polluted current capital that is prone to earthquakes and rapidly sinking into the Java Sea – will be retired from capital status
