Singapore jails pregnant therapist who attacked autistic child under her care
- Nur Amira Muhamad Razali, 33, was caught on a hidden camera scratching and grabbing the boy, and hitting him on his forehead, mouth and left arm
- Her lawyer said Amira, who is 26 weeks’ pregnant, was under stress when she committed the offence as she had just been diagnosed with fibroids

Nur Amira Muhamad Razali, 33, was sentenced on Tuesday to three weeks’ jail after she pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to the boy.
The boy and his mother cannot be named under a court order to protect the victim’s identity.

Two similar charges relating to Amira’s treatment of another boy, aged six, were taken into consideration during sentencing.
The court heard that Amira graduated from the Singapore Institute of Management with a degree in psychology in 2016 and completed a registered behavioural technician course in July 2020.
At the time of the offence, she was working as an educational and behavioural therapist at an autism therapy centre.
The boy, who was diagnosed with severe autism when he was four, was unable to express himself verbally and had been attending educational and behavioural therapy sessions with Amira for five years.
