The owner of a private resort on Lang Tengah Island in Malaysia’s Terengganu state will be summoned on Thursday over the spread on social media of several photos and posters supposedly of a “wild party” organised there.

According to the Malay-language newspaper Sinar Harian, state legislative assembly member Razali Idris said the resort had been requested to provide an explanation regarding the issue that has been viral on social media since Tuesday.

The meeting will also involve the Terengganu Islamic Religious Affairs Department and the Kuala Terengganu City Council.

“We will investigate this matter first. If there are any violations in terms of regulations or any acts, we will take action.

“We will carefully examine the response from the private resort before taking any action,” said Razali, who is in charge of the tourism, culture, environment and climate change portfolio, on Tuesday.
