A man was arrested for masturbating in public at a lecture hall during a seminar for secondary school students in Malaysia.
Cheras Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said that a report of the matter was lodged on Saturday following the incident at a university in Cheras, a suburb in Kuala Lumpur.
“The suspect, a male in his mid-20s, was subsequently arrested by Cheras police in the Sri Petaling area on Monday,” he said in a statement.
“The motive for the incident is still under investigation. He has been remanded for three days, until February 11.”
Rosdi said that investigations showed the suspect was not a student of the university.
Earlier in the day, a social media post on the act was uploaded online showing the suspect being confronted in a compromised manner.
An official from the university maintained that the man did not engage in the alleged act, claiming he had only “removed his trousers”, according to Free Malaysia Today.
He added that the suspect was not a staff member or “in any way connected” to the institution, which has launched an internal investigation into the incident.
The official said the event was not organised by the university but by several schools and we need to determine “when and how this person entered the hall with the students”.
