Outpouring of support greets Faye Wong and Nicholas Tse after rumours they're back together

An outpouring of support has rallied online for Canto-pop diva Faye Wong and actor Nicholas Tse after gossip suggesting the two had rekindled their relationship after ten years apart went viral.

Wong, the 45-year-old singer who dominated the recording industry in the region during the late 1990s, was captured on video hugging and kissing 34-year-old Tse, a popular Hong Kong action movie star, at her Beijing home last week.

The news quickly ignited an online frenzy as it indicated Wong and Tse may have resurrected their sensational love affair, which ended over a decade ago.

The news became a red hot topic almost instantly on China’s vibrant blogosphere, as users quipped that the four biggest news items last week were: e-commerce powerhouse Alibaba’s IPO, tennis star Li Na’s retirement, Scotland’s referendum, and gossip about Wong and Tse.

“These news each signals an era has begun, an era is ended, an era ended before it begins, and an era that has ended is now beginning again,” read a widely-shared posting on Weibo.

And a topic called “Faye Wong and Nicolas Tse back together” recently created on the online social media platform garnered over 377,000 comments and 36,000 followers as of Monday.

Wong has massive appeal among her fans for her androgynous personalty and her “coolness”– qualities that cut a stark contrast when compared to most other contemporary celebrities.
