Six killed, 14 injured in tour bus collision near Beijing

Six people were killed and at least 14 injured when a tour bus collided with a cargo truck and burst into flames on Monday on the main Beijing to Shanghai expressway.

Six people were killed on Monday and at least 14 injured when a tour bus collided with a cargo truck and burst into flames on the main Beijing to Shanghai expressway.

Five German tourists and one Chinese passenger were killed in the ensuing blaze, and at least 14 other people were injured in the crash.

Photos posted by witnesses on the internet showed the vehicle engulfed in flames and dark smoke.

The bus was part of a tour organised by the Beijing Youth Travel Service and had set out from Beijing on Monday morning. 

The other vehicle in the collision was believed to be a container truck with Henan licence plates.

The accident happened at a junction between Beijing and Tianjin, on an expressway linking the capital with Shanghai.
