Deputy director expelled from Communist Party for taking bribes

A deputy director of Guangdong's Land and Resources Department has been expelled from the Communist Party for taking huge bribes.
Fifty-year-old Lu Yingming joined the department only in November after spending 11 years as a deputy director of the province's Water Resources Department.
Guangdong's party discipline inspection commission said Lu had been expelled from the party recently in light of an ongoing anti-graft investigation, the provincial party mouthpiece reported yesterday.
The anti-graft watchdog said Lu was alleged to have "severely violated party discipline", with the investigation finding he had accepted multiple large bribes while working at the Water Resources Department.
Xinhua reported that the authorities had asked the provincial government to approve his expulsion from the civil service. Lu's case has been transferred to the judicial authorities and he has been ordered to repay the bribes he received.
The provincial anti-graft watchdog also announced yesterday that 36-year-old Feng Xiangyong, a deputy mayor of Yunfu , in western Guangdong, was being investigated for "severely violating party discipline" and gambling. It said Feng had accepted large bribes and had been removed from his position and expelled from the party.
Guangdong media had reported that he was the province's youngest deputy mayor.
Meanwhile, the website has reported that Huang Xiaohu, party secretary of Anhui Military Industry Group, was also being investigated for severe violation of party discipline.
According to Xinhua, Anhui's anti-graft watchdog said the group was a state-owned enterprise which controlled 10 companies with total assets of more than 2.6 billion yuan (HK$3.2 billion).
