Five Shenzhen-bound flights -three from Shenzhen Airlines, two from Juneyao Airlines and China Eastern Airlines- have taken emergency measures on Wednesday morning after receiving separate threats between 8am and 9.33am, according to the airlines.

It was not clear what specific threats were made.

The three Shenzhen Airline flights - from Nanjing, Xian and Beijing (ZH9866, ZH9243 and ZH9889, respectively) - were scheduled to take off starting at 7.32am. Juneyao flight HO1111, from Shanghai, was scheduled to take off at 8.18am.

Flight ZH9866, which had already taken off when the airline received the threat, was ordered to fly back to Nanjing. Flight ZH9243, which took off from Xian at 7.32am, landed in the nearby city of Guilin as ordered. Flight ZH9889 from Beijing, scheduled for 10.27am, postponed its take-off.

Juneyao asked its plane to return to Shanghai. After all passengers went through a second security check and the crew checked the plane, the airline said they found nothing suspicious. "We have changed to a new plane for this flight," Juneyao said on weibo.
