Wu Tao, the former head of public security in the Jinjiang district of Chengdu city, was convicted of taking bribes, illegal possession of a firearm, and identity document forgery in a court in Chengdu on January 22, a source close to the municipal political and legal departments told the .

The trial kicked off on November 20 last year, and lasted three hours, according to the newspaper’s previous report on the case.
The court heard the youngest police chief in Chengdu took more than 6 million yuan (HK$7.6 million) in bribes when he headed the district police bureau.
Wu obtained four passports using different identity cards. Last May he was taken into custody by party discipline and inspection authorities while preparing to flee with a large sum of money and several passports.
The investigation of Wu follows the detentions of Li Chuncheng, Sichuan’s former deputy party secretary, and Guo Yongxiang, a former deputy governor and the chairman of the province’s Federation of Literary and Art Circles, amid the anti-corruption campaign launched by Chinese President and Communist Party secretary Xi Jinping last year.
Wu was the security chief of neighbouring Qingyang district before being appointed to the Jinjiang post in 2011.
