Five people were killed and 30 injured when a passenger bus caught fire in Guiyang, the western capital city of Guizhou province at around 1pm on Thursday, Xinhua said in its Sina Weibo microblog. Witnesses told local news portal gog.com.cn that the a blaze broke out on the bus, which was carrying around 50 passengers, near a primary school in Yunyan district, and only a dozen of the passengers were able to get off the bus soon before an ambulance and fire engines arrived. Photos circulating on the popular Sina Weibo microblogging platform showed the bus, pulled over on the side of the road, engulfed in dark smoke and flame. Local media cited witnesses as saying that several dead bodies were seen in the bus after the fire was put out. Those injured were being treated in hospitals and the cause of the fire was still under investigation, Xinhua said.
