A woman from northern China has admitted she did not report to police that a young man died saving her two children from drowning, according to a newspaper report.

The woman was afraid that the family of the man would sue her for damages, the Henan Business Daily reported.

The parents of the two children took them away from the lake in Qingfeng county in Henan province with the body of 24-year-old Meng Ruipeng still in the water.
