China’s passenger flights ‘10 times safer than global average’, says aviation chief
Li Jiaxiang, head of Civil Aviation Administration, also vows to 'improve air traffic control services and coordinate with various parties' to tackle flight delays and poor customer service
“China’s civil aviation safety has remained stable, Li Jiaxiang, head of the Civil Aviation Administration, told reporters at today’s opening of the National People’s Congress in Beijing.
“According to statistics from the International Civil Aviation Organisation, all of our safety indexes showed we’re better than the world’s average by 10 times.”

However, Li said he had experienced flight delay problems.
Such delays, together with poor customer service, are issues about which Chinese travellers frequently complain.
Li said that to solve such problems, the administration would “improve air traffic control services and coordinate with various parties for more support”.
The administration was also considering publishing information on all airlines’ flight arrival and departure information in major civil aviation publications in order to encourage better public supervision.
Earlier, Li revealed that China would be carrying out test flights to assess the performance of its first home-produced large passenger jet, C919, before the end of the year.
