It’s the 2014 Chinese hit song which seems to be just about everywhere in Asia. And now Xiao Pingguo, or “Little Apple”, has started its Western invasion with a British man creating a flash mob with the song in Liverpool’s Clayton Square.

Shaun Gibson performed the flash mob – a choreographed “spontaneous” event – in the city’s shopping district, a local newspaper reported.

He started by singing and dancing with several Chinese who are soon joined passers-by.

Chinese commentators were surprised by the popularity of the song in the UK.

“Oh no, I truly feel the UK has become China’s diehard fan,” a commentator wrote.

“When I first heard Xiao Pingguo, I didn’t understand how such cheap thing could be a hit. But after playing it multiple times, I was completely brainwashed. This is magical!” wrote another.
