Beijing moves to cool tensions as Myanmar expresses sorrow at death of 5 Chinese villagers
China says five people were killed and eight others wounded after a bomb fell from a Myanmese aircraft on a sugarcane field in Yunnan last Friday

Myanmar expressed “deep sorrow” today over the deaths of five Chinese people for which it has been blamed across the border in Yunnan province.
It said it was now jointly investigating the incident with Beijing officials.
China has said five people were killed and eight others wounded after a bomb fell from a Myanmese aircraft on a sugarcane field in Gengma county, in Yunnan last Friday.
Chinese PLA air force fighter jets were sent to "track, monitor, warn and chase away" Myanmar military planes close to the border after Friday’s bombing, spokesman Colonel Shen Jinke, a spokesman, was quoted by Xinhua as saying on Saturday.
Fan Changlong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission told Min Aung Hlaing, commander-in-chief of Myanmar's armed forces, that China’s military would take “decisive” measures if there was a repeat attack by Myanmar forces on its territory.
