Nineteen injured in Henan carnival ride accident

Revolving arm comes apart from support pillars, sending passengers crashing to the ground

Nineteen people were injured in a carnival ride accident at a temple fair in Xinxiang, Henan province, on Monday afternoon, China Central Television reported.

The revolving arm of the attraction called the Flying Saucer suddenly parted from the supporting pillar as it was swinging passengers in the air and fell to the ground.

One person suffered serious bone fractures and 18 other suffered minor injuries.

Photos posted by witnesses on social media showed the arm on the ground, with passengers still strapped in their seats, attracting a large crowd of onlookers.

Police have arrested the person in charge of the attractions.
